National Nutrition Month Committee 2013
Through the Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, I belonged to the committee responsible for National Nutrition Month events throughout the month of March. We met weekly to plan events all over campus such as passing out nutritious snacks to students, providing educational materials, honoring our campus dietitians, posting daily nutrition facts and debunking myths on our social media accounts, and many other events throughout the month.

Oxford Community Obesity Workgroup 2014
Working with professionals in many health related fields from the town of Oxford, this group works to increase health and nutrition awareness, knowledge, and activities within the town of Oxford, Ohio. I attended monthly meetings and events that worked to promote health, nutrition, and physical activity in the community. I helped to bring the voice of the Miami student body to the committee and offer different opinions from a student perspective.
Study Abroad: Health Care and Health Policy in The Gambia 2014
Along with research and studies, I was also able to enjoy and learn about the very different culture of the country. I made many friends with the people of The Gambia that I still keep in contact with. I loved being able to immerse myself in the diversity of the culture of the nation. I would have to say that eating all of the new foods and dishes was my favorite part of the experience. I was able to work in the kitchen of the National Nutrition Agency to help prepare traditional Gambian dishes.
